    Hello,
    I will be providing a toddler observer training in the next weeks. Any tips, resources, suggestions that you can share as a facilitator that will engage my participants? I noticed that the first day is very cut and dry and participants are not as much engage as i would like.

    Thank you,

    Hi Paloma,

    Thanks for reaching out. It sounds like you're keeping busy preparing for your upcoming toddler training! As far as engagement tips, I'd recommend checking out the CLASS for Affiliates page on the Teachstone website. There are many resources there (blog posts, videos, info sheets) that include excellent ideas and examples for engaging your participants. There is even a facilitation tips section on the page, as well as video examples of real trainers in action.

    I hope this helps--let us know how it goes!

    Hello Emily
    Thank you very much for the info about the CLASS for Affiliates page on the Teachstone website. Although i follow teachsone in social media for tips and resources, I never looked through this page. I found many great resources. I will keep you posted.

    Hi Paloma,

    How exciting to that you are getting ready to conduct a Toddler Observation training.  I know the Train-the-Trainer binders has many resources, but yes, day one is challenging with finding ways to engage your participants.

    I try to find ways to help my participants connect with the materials as much as possible.  Such as during the discussion on Toddler development, ask your participants to share some of the types of developmental milestones toddlers go through before jumping right into the slides.  This allows them to engage with the materials.

    I look for any opportunity to get participants talking.  You can invite them to read the definitions of the dimension when you start talking through the face pages and ask participants to share specific interactions that are related to the indicators.

    Let me know if you would like to set up some time for a review of the training materials, and help identify more ways to engage participant during the Toddler Observation training!

    Sincerely,

    Lisa

    Hi Paloma;
    It's great to be thinking and planning ahead for this training! One thing I recommend it that you really take them to the overall domains and how the dimensions support them, especially as they relate to Toddler development .  I also encourage the coder to look to the toddler for cues and to remember the child drives the interactions.
