We have been using the Infant and Toddler Scales for evaluation purposes. And we've been discussing about which scale use in each class.
We research in nursery schools/schools settings, so de different group settings are organized by age. 
Nursery 1: From 3 months to 12 months
Nursery 2: 12-24 months
Nuersery 3: 24-36 months
Nursery 4: 36-48 months

Inside Schools:
PK- 3-4 years
K: 4-5 years

The BIG issue here is that age range must be held by the baby/kid at the BEGINNING of the "school year". In our country that happens every March. So, if we are evaluating classes ongoing the current year, a lot of infants, toddlers and kids already changed their age range, but they will only change "classrooms" in the beggining of next school year.

It is not very reliable and efficient to apply two differents scales inside the same class, or to only evaluate half of the children's interactions.

Why the Infant and Toddler scales are ranged by months, and the rest (from PK) ranged by grades?

Hi @Magdalena Moreno​. So interesting to hear that your school year starts in March! But that certainly makes sense with Summer being December-February. 

The range for each age group overlaps a little bit, so you may see fewer kids age out of a level than you think. 

Infant is Birth-18 months, which should cover the babies in Nursery 1. Toddler is 15-36 months which should cover most children in Nursery 2 and 3, and then pre-k is ages 3-5, which should cover Nursery 4. If a few of the children are slightly out of the age range by the end of the year, the current tool should still be accurate and reliable. If the majority of the children are now in a different age range, choosing the appropriate tool based on the majority's age would probably be a better assessment. 

Are you hoping to use the same tool at the beginning and end of the year to better compare?
