  • 1.  Literacy Focus in Dimensions Guide

    Is there any current information about Literacy Focus and CLASS? Will it be added to the observations? Will it be added to a different Domain or dimension? The oldest Dimensions guide I have is back from 2011 and it says that it is being piloted. Is this still happening? I have not read much about it so I was just curious as to what the outcome was? Thank you!

    Hi Stephanie,

    Teachstone has no current plans to add the dimension of Literacy Focus to the manual. Literacy Focus was developed for the initial MyTeachingPartner study (MTP) at the University of Virginia and has not been used outside of the research setting. There are a number of reasons for this, including the fact that the Early Language & Literacy Classroom Observation (ELLCO) tool does a nice job capturing what is happening in classrooms related to literacy.

    Thank you Sarah! I like the concept of Literacy Focus, but with other in-service suites and ECLKC, literacy definitely is hit.
