In this presentation, we'll compare CLASS 2nd Edition with the tool you are already familiar with. We will share our explorations in understanding how using the CLASS for assessment and professional development can work in parallel with community-centered language efforts. We will explore ways to improve the training of observers and coaches, as well as ways to strengthen and revise protocol in observations for increased consistency in the culturally and linguistically sensitive use of the CLASS. You'll learn about the research, expertise, and stories that led to the enhancements in 2nd Edition. We'll also share the considerations and guidance for supporting educators and staff throughout a transition period to CLASS 2nd Edition.
