I have observed for PreK as well for several years and we use Haggerty. I think the beauty of CLASS is the 80 minute cycle naturally balances itself out. While Instructional Support might be lower during Haggerty, other areas are more positively impacted. It's only 5-10 minutes of an 80 minute cycle ...

This looks exciting. It's unfortunate that this is scheduled during so many of our scheduled Spring Breaks. I won't be able to attend due to this and I'm certain I'm not the only one. :-( ------------------------------ Lea Abbey Arkansas City KS ------------------------------

Hi. This happened to me last fall. I found out from Teachstone that they no longer send them out automatically but will do so by request. Hope that helps. ------------------------------ Lea Abbey Arkansas City KS ------------------------------

*2/22/21 Edited to add: I reached out to Teachstone. If you want a certification card, you have to request one. They no longer automatically send them out. I recertified in October and still haven't received my card. This is my 5th recertification and every year, I have to contact them saying my ...

We have done a sort activity with the domains, dimensions, indicators, and behavior markers with our staff. They are all cut and have to be sorted into the right place. I think we broke this up into a few different sessions because that's alot of sorting to do at one time! ------------------------------ ...

This can be a tough one because it feels so unnatural! I try to encourage teachers to choose one small snippet of time during the day where they think incorporating self talk would be the easiest to do. For some, that may be snack time- narrating as they prepare snacks. For others, it's small groups. ...

I love this little chart and have it taped to my clipboard that I use during observations. ------------------------------ Lea Abbey Arkansas City KS ------------------------------

My template is pretty general too... It's a google doc with all of the dimensions listed. I fill in each one based on observations and end each paragraph with a reflective question. I would love to see how others do this as well! Great question. ------------------------------ Lea Abbey ------ ...

Congratulations!! Great job! It's such a nice feeling to get that green screen saying you passed! I have that little chart taped to my clipboard that I use when I observe along with the chart from page 17. I find the terms extremely helpful for determining a score. Can someone post a link to the practice ...

Hi Sandra- First of all, you can totally do this! I would imagine your nerves are getting the best of you. I have been PreK certified for 3 years (classroom teacher for 20) and I had to take the test twice this year to pass. Even though I took lots of time to study and prep, my first attempt was rushed, ...

Hi Gretchen During small groups and centers, I typically look for evidence of an adult following the student's lead in the activity at hand. So if a child is in the kitchen center and offers the adult some utensils and invites him/ her to bake cookies, I look at the interactions between them. Did the ...

I have seen some teachers put little sticky notes with questions written on them on a specific page of a book to remind them to pause and ask that question. ------------------------------ Lea Abbey Disabilities Coordinator ------------------------------

I agree with the above responses. Whether I'm observing a young 3 year old classroom, a special needs classroom, or a more highly functioning 4-5's classroom, I am focused on the same thing: interactions between teacher and student and that happens in any given setting- just in different ways. :-) ...
