My Name is Katherine Thomas, born in Del Rio Texas, I have 3 sisters and 4 brothers, and we come from a 2 parent household. Interesting fact about our family line up is..... the order goes boy, girl, boy, girl, boy, girl, boy, girl. My parents were in the education field. My father after he retired from the Air Force, he went back to school and received his BA in Education , he then became a substitute teaceher, my mother was a classroom aide, my sister is a teacher of 4th graders, my other sister and her husband worked at the local high schools. I myself after being retrained, entered Head Start in 2002, as a classroom aide, I hold my AA, BA, and my Masters in Education. I am currenty in the position of a Early learning Mentor coach. I enjoy my position, because it lets me see the triumphs of the teachers in their interactions with the children and the triumphs with the children when they make those connections. I enjoy utilizing the CLASS tool with the teachers because it models in so many ways that teachers can interact with the children, and this always brings them to a win/win outcome. My passion is sewing and reading, I love history and I love sharing that information with others. In my capacity of Coach, my desire is to see teachers be the best they can be, so that way our children can be the best they can be. Watching children's brains light up when they learn something or when they are able to articulate something that they have learned from the teachers through those back and forth conversations or through brainstorming, or language modeling, is the best thing in the world to see, it really brings me great joy.
