It has been very helpful to me when others have shared the forms or document templates they use. In return, I'd like to share what I use after I conduct a CLASS consultation as part of Vermont STARS, the state's Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS). When early care and education programs request a consultation before a scored assessment, a STARS Assessor visits, observes, and meets for discussion with classroom teachers and, if desired, program administrators. During CLASS consultations, I complete three 30-minute cycles, using the 10-minute record time to assign score ranges (Low, Medium, High) rather than number values. A brief overview of the age-appropriate CLASS dimensions, Teachstone website, and teacher-oriented products such as the CLASS Dictionary and Strategy Cards are all part of the discussion. Later, I use the attached templates (Pre-K, Toddler, and Infant) to provide written feedback. I insert specific examples of the behavior markers I observed as well as recommended strategies for increasing the quality of the social interactions to support that dimension. VT STARS has capacity for one consultation visit; this is my approach to making the most of it. If you have resources you have developed for single consultation visits, please share!
