    Hi everyone!

I wanted to post this to ask a question to everyone for some ideas that we can all share with each other and help each other out! I for one need some ideas for sensory time with the kids I teach. We don't have many supplies but I would love to hear everyone's ideas! Thank you!

    Good morning!  Happy Friday!

Just wanted to remind folks to be sure and include sound and scent when thinking about sensory prompts.

Scent is a great idea for a sensory prompt! My students haven't had that experience yet and I know they would be incredibly intrigued by new scents. Maybe I can do a theme scent of the week for fall too!

In my toddler class In the sensory area we played with bubble wrap and the children listen to the sound of bubble wrap as it was beginning popped .Shortly after the children started to making popping sound with their own mouth.I personally like the idea of adding sound to the sensory area

Use what surrounds you....nature is full of sensory materials! Leaves, grass, bark, rocks and pebbles, and my favorite...MUD!
I've also used colored rice, beans, cooked spaghetti - all these can be purchased at a dollar store or parents can donate. You don't have to spend money to experience sensory :) Good luck!

The Inspired Treehouse offers free information on sensory, attached is one of their examples.  How do you find this helpful?  What would you add?  How does this help with a focus on sensory?

    Hi Zoe,

One of my favorite things to do for sensory is to use rice or pasta and I turn it into multiple steps/projects for the children. So, first they each get their own bag of rice/pasta and choose what color they want to turn it, then manipulate the bag to spread the color throughout. Once it dries, I save a cup or so out of each child's bag for a separate project, then add the remainder to the sensory table with scoopers and dishes to fill. Then I use the cup left out for each of them to make a sensory bottle with.
