When do you typically give feedback from an observation? I share observations with our Ed Services Coordinator so we can compare to previous cycles, so I usually only give some cursory feedback before i leave but do not get into the whole content.
    How do others handle this?
    thanks!

Interesting question! I hope you get some others' experiences.

My guess is, it varies drastically. Part of this would be because different programs have different goals for observations and also may have an outside organization do the observation and someone else interpret it as a coach.

Sometimes, teachers will get to see their scores for each CLASS dimension and will be allowed to choose which dimension they'd like to spend time focusing on. In other programs, coaches will share the range of a teacher's scores. For example, you might see that you got a "low-range" in Productivity meaning that you scored a 1, 2, or 3-but you will not see which number was assigned to that CLASS dimension. In these two scenarios, teachers might get their feedback either as a written report or through a conversation with a superior. O
ther programs prefer to not share any specific CLASS data with their teachers at all. Instead, coaches in these organizations may use the data to provide personalized support for teachers.

This is strictly about informal observation, but you may find interesting or helpful: https://info.teachstone.com/blog/informal-observations-teacher-growth

Thank you for responding! This was my thought about feedback as I share scores with the Coordinator and she then shares with the teachers and PD is planned following that. And thanks for the information on informal observation. I am anxious to use this in my classrooms!

Attached is a form that we use to give specific feedback to teaching staff after CLASS Observations.  We, normally, show only 1 or 2 strengths/opportunities for growth - just areas that we want them to focus on/be more aware of, and try to connect this information to Teaching Practice Assessments that we use through either TLCs or Pyramid Model Needs Assessments.  It's a great tool for conversations!

In prior years, we would link High Scope PQAs to this information; however, we recently switched to Creative Curriculum and are still working on implementing the CC Fidelity Tools.  (Yes, we are total data junkies!  :-))
