This weekend I had the opportunity to be a part of the training that Voices for Children offered focused on ACE's.  While looking into materials they provided I came across HOPE and Simplicity Parenting.  I like the connections HOPE makes with understanding and self-care.  Simplicity Parenting offers many articles supporting the positive and strength based approach.  Let me know what you find helpful and feel free to share with anyone that might be interested.

    Ayesha,
Thank you so much for sharing your experience and resources. They are powerful and much needed! I am very interested to hear more about your training. I am going to checkout the links in the resources you provided. I am very interested in being involved especially with the Simplicity Parenting. He touched on a topic I used to tell my son for years, "Learn to be bored."

The Simplicity Parenting articles got me thinking on how valuable each perspective is.  To those new to positivity, strength based or mindfulness these kind of materials can be illustrative of noticing what triggers each of us so we acknowledge and go easy on ourselves so that responding is the focus.  Everyday my personal goals revolve around being grateful for all I have and moving forward in proactive ways.  Negativity is still encountered, but I have made the choice to work on controlling how I decide to respond.  In these challenging times it can be easy to focus on the things out of our control.  When you decide to focus on what you can do it helps with the mind set and keeping balance despite all the negativity.  I still have my days that are challenging, but putting the work into this focus is what keeps me moving forward.  Thank you for your interest, my hope is that more will be interested and keep the conversation going.  Have a most inventive and exciting day!

    Ayesha,
We seem to be working on having the same mindset - focus on what we have to be grateful for which is much! Having this mindset impacts our homes, work environments, the children we work with and families. It isn't easy, but it keeps you moving forward. More people need this encouragement. Thanks again for sharing!

It has so many connections with all the levels of CLASS, the more I learn the more I want to learn.  The important thing for me is to do little things throughout the day that help me with my focus.  This can show up in many different ways for each individual.  I tend to reflect, breath and go easy on myself as much as I need to as things come up.  I recognize faster when emotions come up and acknowledge them so I am able to move forward in meaningful ways.  Many times when I just listen I learn so much about each individual that I have a chance to engage with.  Throw in higher order thinking questions when you are able, but mostly being present helps me to see what is happening and be specific with positive affirmations so they know I am paying attention.  I am interested to learn what works for others.  What comes up for you with connections?  What strategies help you remain positive?  How do you challenge yourself with what you struggle with?  Hope this is helpful and your day is full of inspiring and innovating moments.
