Hi Twilla,I feel It depends if it is a reoccurring problem with one child or more than one . I often find that a combination of a certain two children creates a problem, such as you described. If that is the case, and you are tied up in small group with other children, I would suggest that you Have those particular two children play in separate centers, while you are preoccupied.
Again, if it is one particular child, and no matter who he or she plays with, there is an issue then I would suggest having them play right by you either on their own, or with only one other child, or having them play at a center on their own right next to you while you Busy in small group.
If it is a problem with multiple children, And I'm assuming you have set numbers in each center that cannot be exceeded so it is not overcrowded. I would suggest Lots of modeling every morning during circle time of the correct way to play with a toy and the correct way to ask for a toy. We teach our children to say "when you are finished can I have a turn with that toy?" When you have some very alpha children , It is an ongoing process through the year to show them the correct way to play in a center and to share. We have all been there, Twilla, Don't feel it's just you and your class. It is the age . Wishing you well.

Subject: Children Behavior During Center Time
Hi I'm Twilla and I work with Pre-K and I am wanting to know during center time how do you control inappropriate behavior like snatching toys from other children and saying it's mine while the other child is crying. But your the only teacher in the room but in ratio but your involved in during an activity with the other children.
