  • 1.  CLASS Environment Score Sheet

    Good Afternoon, 

    Has anyone done the CLASS environment score sheet yet? I get the rating of a 1,2,3 for the environment section and see the scoring in the manual on page 8. But, on the score sheet you do the math at the bottom and you get a grand total. What does that mean? There is nowhere in the Environment Manual or Observation Field Guide to explain what that score means or represents. It is just a percentage? Is there suppose to be a scale range to determine quality? 

    Any assistance would be appreciated....Thanks!

    Hi @Jennifer Bartlebaugh I reached out to our team to learn a bit more about this. The Environment Manual briefly touches on this  "Aggregating CLASS Environment scores as a whole is useful for looking at trends over time, for example, but the data is most impactful when used to support educators at all levels to enhance their practice. That happens at the item level and in relation to CLASS."
    The Manual provides some examples of how item-level data might be used in an ongoing improvement or professional development context.  Teachstone trusts and empowers our clients to use the data as is most useful to them, and as such we don't provide hard guidelines on how data should be aggregated, though we do caution that an overall score may be a less powerful lens with which to examine the data.     ​​

    When you are working on your assignments and you complete a section you will be able to continue to the next section. You have to do this to reach the podcast and watch the video. After that the discussion question appears and you reply directly to that question. You will be able to view the responses of other students and you can read and reply to what you desire. I hope I explained it well enough. If you have any other questions please let me know.
