All Things CLASS

Is it necessary to use something like Conscious Discipline along with CLASS? If you are training teachers in CLASS to ensure higher scores, would discipline/classroom management be incorporated or do you find that something additional like CD is needed as well? I know there is a crosswalk, but in looking at it, it seems it would be necessary to implement CD into your teaching to hit the different domains and dimensions. 

Conscious Discipline can show up in positive climate. Any social emotional focus can be interwoven into classroom management, instructional support or the climate of the classroom. It does speak to the responsiveness level and regard. The more connections you see the more you see the interworking's of the setting. I do try not to think too hard when doing CLASS. This lens speaks to duration of occurrences over the time spent in observation. I tend to look at the book when scoring to keep me with the focus. The data you gather for CLASS can be used to inform coaching if that is your next step with the individual.
