How do I pass Toddler Reliability?

  • 1.  How do I pass Toddler Reliability?

Seriously, how do I pass this test. My coaching has been to tell me that I know the information. Well, I'm still struggling with the test!!!! Perhaps my brain cannot adapt to the CLASS lens. I may be dyslexic but I did get a Masters in ECE with a 4.0, I'm not stupid but, this whole process has made me feel like an idiot.

    Orinthia and Jeannette,
Y'all are not the only ones with this issue. I do not always pass the Toddler recertification on the first try, although I tend to do quite well on Pre-K. Sometimes I wonder if Teachstone should recalibrate their Master Codes to reflect alignment with the scores assigned by people actually taking the test in the field, rather than by the consensus, over time,  of several people in the research lab.

Toddler reliability refers to the annual certification of reliability that is required for people who serve as CLASS observers in assessing Toddler programs using the CLASS instrument. To achieve certification, and to renew annually, one must achieve 80% reliability with the master codes when scoring videos of five different classrooms.

    Hope this is helpful.

Hi Jeanette, before taking another attempt I highly recommend reaching out to our Reliability Support team. They can schedule a call with you and talk through any areas of struggle and will be able to give you some pointers before your next attempt. I'd also recommend the resources on this page: https://teachstone.com/reliability-support/

For anyone having a hard time, if you are unsuccessful in your second attempt, we recommend you reach out to our Customer Support team at contact@teachstone.com or via chat in the lower right-hand corner to set up a call with our Reliability Support Team.

I am not trying to be negative. But please don't give up! I call the support team so much and not one person called me back. I was thankful to have co-workers to talk too. Unfortunately I am having to take this test over I failed by two points. I was so stressed out. I wished they had a record to see when my calls were placed. Not only did I called , when I tried to get in the next class it kept re-directing me back and shutting down. Now I have no idea when I will be able to take the test again. The way it's set-up you will have to pay the entire amount when you only need one class . So please hang  in there and get yourself your own support group. I found out later that I wasn't in it alone that others said the same thing their calls were not return. We pay too much money to not get the help or resources that is claimed that is here for us.

This scares me to death reading this. But I'm still waiting on an email to know what to do after I've completed the course almost a month ago.

    Hi @Judy White,

I would recommend reaching out to our Customer Support team if you still aren't able to access your test after attending training. Their email address is contact@teachstone.com, or you can chat with them via the "Chat with Support" button in the lower right-hand corner. Try not to worry as you begin your certification test, it can sometimes feel scary, but Teachstone is always here to support you!

    Best,
    Allison

I've found that testing on the practice videos to be the most effective, also paying for a calibration mid-year can be effective in keeping with the CLASS lens.
