Hi everyone! Im Kim Conlin and Im new to this whole online learning thing. Im did the ECE CDA with CLASS course 1. Its been interesting and challenging getting back into school work as well as balancing life and work. Thus far the information has been easily digestible and I feel like I'm already gaining knowledge in a field I've been working in for over a decade. I honestly had never heard of CLASS before but after learning more think it's a wonderful way to put a language to the practices so many of us teachers/care givers are already doing. The actual curriculum that Teachstone is providing is great, but from reading the posts on this discussion board Im seeing that a lot of us(including myself) have been experiencing tech difficulties. I was wondering if anyone can tell me how to access the podcast discussions? Is that done here? Or is there a different prompt located somewhere else?
I guess either way, Id like to speak on the very first podcast we had to listen to between Megin Ruston and Joanna Parker. I really enjoyed their discussion and the acronym Joanna spoke about, W.A.G.E.R. This was such a beautiful conversation about the attitude and energy that we bring with us into the room when working with children. Warmth, acceptance, genuiness, empathy, and respect. I find that in the moment, especially when working with children under 5, it can be difficult to remember these five key words, but when you are being supported and surrounded by a great staff it makes it so much easier. The podcast reminded me that being a teacher is a calling not a career, and how thankful I am to work with other people that really want to be there and continue everyday even through the most challenging circumstances to provide a safe and loving environment for kids to learn in. Cheers to everyone here continuing your education and growing as a teacher/care provider!
