It May Take them a little bit longer in time to adjust, trust me I been here. They see a new face and a new style of teaching and learning, because we not all do it the same, or have the same tolerance. Try not to let them see you sweat, some can pick up on emotion and or frustration, I'm not saying you intentionally have any, or any that we may or may not notice. Do an attention grabber, also speak firmly yet softly. Make it fun, yet remind them of the dogs and don't. As they see you routinely do and say things, they will catch on. Include them in the making of the assignments if you can. I also learned that the ones that seems not interested or not paying attention, will sometimes need your help later, you could use that time to, in order to get their attention, and explain the importance of the lesson again, and why it's important too listen to your teachers. I myself had this issue, and my routine and voice stayed the same, yet again excitement, fun, using the tools in cda classes are helpful as well. Look at the domains and things, be intentional, encouraging and understanding, you got this!

I have recently been assigned to school age kids so children from K-6th and so far I'm just loving every minute but I will say I have been noticing it takes an awful long time to just get one activity together I'm constantly having to repeat myself ask them to lower voices without another teacher they've known to come and help me get it along it doesn't make me feel great when this happens because it's as if I have no control over our class they I just need some ideas on what else could I try because I would say when I started it was all new to me and as well as them you know to be with a new teacher
