One of the supervisors I work with shared this experience with me:
"While at my site on Monday morning, I helped a couple of children who wanted the same Lego. We talked about taking turns, sharing and using our words. The child gave the other child the Legos and said that she could wait, and she would use it when he was done.
Whild at another site yesterday while in a pre-k class I helped a child choose between blocks and dramatic play as he was wanting to take a couple of blocks into the dramatic area. I asked him if it was ok to take the blocks into the dramatic area and he said NO. He put the block back on the shelf and went to the dramatic play area. He said that he will go to the block area tomorrow.
While in the dramatic area yesterday with the same child we sat, and I pretended to eat the pizza he made me. I told him "thank you Alberto, this pizza is so delicious".
I comforted a child in a pre-k class who wanted her mom.
I gave her a hug and reassured her that her mom was picking up just as she does every day.
We sang a song to transition the class down the hallway and out of the building for dismissal.
I am currently sitting at my desk enjoying a delicious cup of coffee."
Moments like this show how important it is to show up and be present wherever you are.
