All Things CLASS

Hello. Can someone speak to whether a Class observation will be scored lower in productivity if a teacher is off of her normal schedule?  For example, her schedule says it should be whole group but she's doing small groups.  Thanks for any insight. 

It is looking through the eyes of CLASS that can address this issue. Being on schedule is a supervisory/manager responsibility. CLASS is measuring the interactions of the teacher and children regardless to what is taking place in the classroom at the time of observation. I would make a note for the manager if I thought it was needed but while doing CLASS it is irrelevant. Actually, not following the students lead could cause a low scoring in RSP or Productivity depending on the preparedness of the teacher.

So, we don't compare the time used based on the teacher's schedule. However, it could be considered if the children are confused about the routine or how to transition to the small groups. We base everything on what is happening during the observation, not whether or not the teacher is off her normal schedule.
