We are thrilled and grateful to have received over 50 amazing applications this year. Choosing the scholarship recipients was incredibly challenging, but we are delighted to introduce our three winners!
Shayla Wright - Head Start Hero Scholarship Recipient
Shayla Wright, a Head Start Coach with 13+ years of Early Childhood Education experience, holds a Master’s in Infant Mental Health from Arizona State University and an Undergrad in Human Development and Family Studies from Bowling Green State University. Based at Community Coordinated Child Care (4-C) in Louisville, Kentucky, Shayla plays a crucial role in supporting Head Start Educators in their classrooms.
Toylene Harris - Coach with CLASS Scholarship Recipient
Toylene Harris, Education Coach Specialist at EOA Head Start in Savannah, GA, brings 17 years of teaching experience, ranging from infants to third graders. With a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from UNCW, she supports teachers in Early Head Start/Head Start, aligning classrooms and utilizing her diverse background. While new to the CLASS® journey, she sees its positive impact on EOA's program.
Cecilia Pettye - Local Leader Scholarship Recipient
Cecilia Pettye, a Center Director with over a decade of experience in child development, was inspired to enter the field after seeing many young children overlooked. Recognizing the crucial role of educators in Early Childhood Development, she became certified in CLASS training for infants and toddlers. She also developed lesson plans following the PITC philosophy and conducted training in CACFP, DRDP, and ITERS.
