Hi! Strategies for children with disabilities largely depend on their individual abilities, needs, and interests. I'd encourage teachers to start by interacting with children, observing them, engaging with the families, and reviewing assessment data, as well as if their 504/IEP/IFSP (if they have one). Once they know children, individually, you can support them by reviewing strategies and deciding which ones to try, depending on what she thinks might benefit each child.
Some examples of strategies include: additional wait time for processing and responding, communication boards or picture cards to support non-verbal communication, limiting sensory inputs, providing fidget toys/materials to hold while they think & work, providing flexible/alternative seating options, task analyses (breaking up tasks into smaller steps)…
Hope that helps!

Does anyone have any advice they can share to support children with learning disabilities? I am a coach working with teachers on this topic as we prepare for the next school year and would love any tips.
