Sessions by Teachstone at BUILD Conference:

Title: Leveraging CQI Supports for Increased Equitable, High-Quality Opportunities, and Outcomes for Children and Educators

WhenSaturday, November 30, 2023, 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM

Presenters: Bridget, Nasha Patel from Watershed, and Tierah M. West, Associate Director of Early Childhood Data Systems, Virginia

Description: While CLASS (Classroom Assessment Scoring System) is often used for accountability, in this session, you will learn how state leaders incorporated CLASS as an essential part of CQI systems. Using data, system support, and feedback loops, policymakers in states like Louisiana drove high-quality opportunities and outcomes for children and educators. You will learn about new Teachstone revisions that ensure CLASS generates meaningful, equitable assessments to drive effective classroom practices, including for dual language learners and children with developmental delays.

Title: Meaningful Interactions Are for Everyone

WhenSaturday, November 30, 2023, 03:45 PM

Presenters: Bridget Hamre, Paula Reed, Gerrit Westervelt, Veronica Fernandez

Description: Early childhood leaders understand the power of effective interactions between adults and young children inside a classroom. We’ve all heard about how powerful it can be when adults and children connect in supportive ways. But what is it like to actually experience meaningful interactions in other contexts – including your own? In this interactive small group session, we will use video and in-person demonstrations to show how positive (and not-so-positive) interactions look and feel, among teachers, directors, coaches, and family members, and explore in small groups what each of us can do in our daily lives to support the kinds of interactions that improve results for children and make life easier for everyone. We will also discuss how interactions can be centered in early childhood systems to empower professionals and focus intervention strategies, including professional development and workforce investments, to enable more equitable, responsive systems.
