Hi my name is Sasha and I currently work in a KinderCare facility as a discovery preschool teacher. I currently struggle with a 3yr old girl who is nonverbal. I practice the smae lessons with her as i do the other children as well as give her individual time to practice more and talk to her more. she doesn't seem to care at all when i do. she looks to the side, fidgets with things around her or just doesn't pay attention. is there any advice?

Find something that is of interest to her. Does she like dolls, flowers, trucks, etc. Then use those items to sit and play with her. use non verbal communication as well as verbal and see which she responds to better. You may just have to build a trusting relationship for her to open up.

Hello Ms. Sasha

My Name is Marissa, For the child nonverbal, you can use more children interactions where she participates, making rotations with different verbal children. Other thing when you work on individual, you can make more face and body expressions to motivate the child interest (smile, dance, jumping, etc.). In daily class each comment, show book pictures, or information use clearly and slow pronunciations all the time. Questions to other children and she them, you need to give trust and make constantly.

Thank you!
