Good Morning,

We are a HS/EHS tribal program.  This is our first year using CLASS (I/T) for our infant/toddler classrooms.  How do other programs support teachers using this data. I'm looking to see how you use it without any baseline data as this is not a requirement at this time( I hope this makes sense).

thank you and have a great day.

Hi Tianee, thanks for reaching out to the CLASS Community! I'm curious to hear what others recommend. I asked one of our CLASS specialists, and they shared that one strategy you could use as you establish a baseline is to ask the teachers what they want to focus on, with a focus on a time of day where they need support or perhaps relationship building with particular children, and then build in the CLASS language on top of that. You can also use averages from broader studies, which tend to show higher scores in emotional interactions and lower scores in more cognitive and language focused interacted to guide your initial coaching conversations. If you haven't explored these, you might find some of these coaching resources helpful as well: https://teachstone.com/for-coaches/
