Hello!
We've just had a new teacher begin in our district and we're wondering how long she needs to be with her new students before we do CLASS in her room. While I know that CLASS is measuring teacher interaction, I feel like there might be an appropriate amount of time for her to establish routines, etc. before we'd come in to observe. Thanks!

Hi there!

I have written in my CLASS manual that a teacher needs to be with the same group of children for 10 days before being formally observed with CLASS. Hope this helps!

Hi @Danielle Gismondi,

I found written in a field guide the recommendation that a teacher who has been with the students for fewer than 30 days should not be observed so the teacher can get to know the students, settle in, and establish routines. I have seen that  the OHS Monitoring observation protocol specifies that a lead teacher has to be in the classroom for at least 10 days before the monitoring visit for the observation to occur. I hope this helps!

Best,
Allison
