 Question Regarding Portfolio

I am a childcare teacher who teaches students in fourth through sixth grade. I am obtaining my CDA for preschoolers since it is the age group closest to the students I work with. While I know my CDA certification focuses on preschoolers, is it acceptable for me to write my professional portfolio essays and activities for the age group I work with?

Hi Angel,

Thanks for reaching out! Unfortunately, the portfolio is a requirement of the Council for Professional Recognition, not Teachstone, and needs to reflect the age group that you are credentialing in. As does the verification visit—you will need to be observed working with children in the age group you are credentialed in. I have linked the CDA Council above if you have further questions regarding this!

I hope that helps, don't hesitate to reach out if you have further questions!

Best,
