Do the children have IFSPs/IEPs. If so, it is important that you follow the goals and objectives outlined in the document. There should be specialists assigned to the child depending on the goals and objectives. At a minimum there should be a speech language pathologist (SLP). You should get support from the specialists.
If they do not have an IFSP or IEP, talk with the parents about getting an evaluation from the local Early Intervention Program (EI) or school district. (Depending on the age of the child - birth to three for IFSP/EI and three to six for IEP/school.)
Visual supports, while originally developed for children with special needs, should be used for all young children. Visual schedules, social stories, first/then boards etc. are useful tools. The Pyramid Model is a great resource for visual supports.

Good afternoon I'm new to teaching and working with children who have nonverbal speech . What would be the best learning skills to help out a new teacher and what to do.
