    Posted 21 days ago

Good day, I work with a preschool program that runs indoor and outdoor curriculum. As I understand it, I know that we code outdoors for the infant and toddler CLASS and usually not in the prek, however, since they run an intentional outdoor program, wouldn't it be advised to code both indoors and outdoors? Thanks for your guidance! Best, barbra

While it's true that Pre-K CLASS observations are most commonly conducted indoors, the manual does not prohibit outdoor observation. Instead, it emphasizes observing where meaningful instruction and interactions are taking place.

So in your case, if the outdoor time is intentional, structured, and part of the core curriculum (not just recess or unstructured play),  then it is absolutely appropriate to include outdoor observation cycles.
